The application process

The vacation scheme

Law and non-law graduates, UK and international students, including those who have already graduated, are encouraged to apply for a two-week vacation scheme.

  • If you are a law student, you should apply in your penultimate year by 31 January 2008 in order to be considered for the Spring or Summer schemes.
  • If you are a non-law student, you should apply in your final year, either by 15 November 2007 for the Winter scheme, or by 31 January 2008 for the Spring and Summer schemes.
  • If you are a degree holder, please apply any time before the deadlines stated above

If your application is successful, you will be invited to the London office where you will be interviewed by two partners. You will then be given a tour of the firm’s offices by one of our current trainees and can ask them questions completely off the record.

We also run a series of Open Days during the Spring, designed to give a snapshot of the firm. They include presentations and interactive workshops with our main departments.

The training contract

The deadline for all training contracts is 31 July 2008 for a start date of September 2010/March 2011. If you would like to request an earlier start date, please state in the extra information section on your application when you would be available to start.

  • Law students should apply in their penultimate year.
  • Non-law students should apply in their final year.
  • Graduates can apply at any time.

The main training contract interview season takes place during September/October. However, we do interview other eligible candidates throughout the year according to The Solicitors Regulation Authority’s regulations.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to our London office where you will be asked to review a short case study before being interviewed by two partners. Your visit will include an office tour with one of our current trainees.
