Abu Dhabi

The Middle East continues to be an important market for a growing number of international corporations and financial institutions.

Underlining the importance of this legal market we are continuing to expand our Abu Dhabi office, opened in 2008 by Neil Brimson, the firm's Middle East head. The office is managed by Andrew Newbery, who has the support of thirteen other Abu Dhabi-based lawyers. This expansion is set to continue throughout 2010.

Herbert Smith already has an extensive track record of advising on major work in Abu Dhabi, particularly in relation to the growing number of major infrastructure and energy projects in the Emirate.

Abu Dhabi-based clients of the firm include Etisalat, the United Arab Emirates national telecommunications operator, that Herbert Smith has been regularly advising over the last year on its international acquisitions.

Regionally, Abu Dhabi is complemented by a Herbert Smith office in Dubai and, since 2008, a formal association with Al-Ghazzawi Professional Association ("GPA") in Saudi Arabia, with approximately 30 lawyers spread across offices in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam.

The main practice areas of the office are:

Corporate finance

Dispute resolution

Finance

Projects
