The final report in Lord Justice Rupert Jackson's “root and branch” review of the cost of English civil litigation was published on 14 January 2010. The report makes sweeping recommendations designed to “promote access to justice at proportionate cost”, including the introduction of contingency fees on the Ontario model, major changes to the rules for conditional fee agreements and after the event insurance, and a variety of procedural reforms. If implemented, the reforms could have a dramatic impact on the litigation landscape including the way cases are funded.
During this webinar we will briefly summarise the key recommendations from the final report, followed by discussions with a leading litigation funder and an experienced Canadian litigator as to how the litigation landscape might look following implementation of the reforms.
