Herbert Smith expands Singapore office with new hire

09 April 2008

Herbert Smith today announced that it is adding new capability to its Singapore office with the hire of energy and infrastructure lawyer Richard Nelson.

Richard joins the firm as a partner from Linklaters, where he qualified in 1999. He has previously practised in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Richard has wide experience across the energy, infrastructure and project finance sectors. He works for a wide range of corporates, banks and other financial institutions. He has also spent time on secondment at BP.

Ashley Alder, head of Herbert Smith's Asia practice, commented:

"We look forward to working with Richard to build our energy and projects practice in Singapore. There are great opportunities in the region, as Singapore is increasingly establishing itself as a trading hub for oil, gas and other energy products in Asia, while across South East Asia there is an enormous pipeline of projects in development."
