Adam Johnson has acted in connection with many large-scale litigation and arbitration cases, including recently AWG's high profile fraud claim arising from its listed takeover of Morrison plc: AWG v. Morrison & Another (one of The Lawyer magazine's Top 10 trials for 2006; the case settled on the eve of an anticipated 9 month trial (judgment on a preliminary point is at [2006] 1 WLR 1163 (CA)).
Adam is a qualified Solicitor-Advocate and one of the members of the firm's Advocacy Unit and is a CEDR Accredited Mediator.
He is listed in "Who's Who Legal" (2008) in the Commercial Litigation category, and in "Legal Experts" (2008) in the Banking Litigation category. Adam has lectured at the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford and at University College, London.
Adam's practice has particular emphasis on the following areas:
Cross-border disputes and international law, including asset tracing and injunctions, claims involving States and State entities, jurisdiction and choice of law issues, international sanctions and international judicial assistance (in particular letters of request)
Arbitration, including acting both in arbitrations and in relation to connected litigation (for example as regards stays of proceedings and as regards the enforcement of arbitration awards)
Banking and financial services, in particular in relation to cross-border banking and securities litigation.

- United States Securities & Exchange Commission in major fraud enforcement proceedings in the Isle of Man, arising from the collapse of Aremisoft Corporation (which resulted in the largest ever repatriation of the proceeds of crime by the United States)
- the partners of Arthur Andersen (UK) in connection with a variety of matters following the collapse of the worldwide Andersen network, including US proceedings related to the Enron and WorldCom scandals
- an Eastern European State in LCIA and bilateral investment treaty arbitration proceedings arising out of a foreign investment programme
- Mabey & Johnson in relation to an attempt to stay English litigation in favour of arbitration proceedings: Mabey & Johnson v. Danos & Others [2007] EWHC 1094 (Ch) (Henderson J)
- Standard Chartered Bank in relation to Cayman Islands injunction proceedings arising out of the attempted enforcement of judgments and awards against the Republic of Congo
