Adrian Brown

Adrian specialises in EU competition law and public procurement law.  He has advised numerous clients on the implications of the EU competition rules regarding commercial agreements, joint ventures and mergers, including several phase II merger enquiries by the European Commission.  Adrian is also recognised as a leading expert on EU procurement law.  He advises the firm's public sector and utility clients on procurement matters and has written and spoken widely on the subject.

  • Carnival Corporation, the world's largest cruise operator, on the European Commission's phase II merger enquiry into its combination with P&O Princess and on the subsequent challenge by Festival in the European Court of First Instance
  • Warner Music Group in relation to several proposed mergers and various antitrust enquiries in the music sector
  • Time Warner on the Commission's phase II merger enquiry into its acquisition of ContentGuard, jointly with Microsoft, in the field of digital rights management and the protection of on-line content
  • Nuclear Decommissioning Authority on various procurement issues arising from the ongoing major re-structuring and clean-up in the UK nuclear industry
  • London Underground and Transport for London on the procurement issues relating to large public transport projects in London, including the East London Line and e-Money projects
  • Southwark LBC on the procurement strategy and procedure for choosing a partner to re-develop the Elephant and Castle estate
