Christopher Rees

Christopher is currently on secondment to the Al-Ghazzawi Professional Association (GPA) in Saudi Arabia, which has a formal association with Herbert Smith. Christopher is the principal and senior resident partner of the GPA Riyadh office.

Christopher has over 30 years experience as a corporate commercial lawyer focused mainly in the technology sector. He has advised many of the world's leading businesses and UK government agencies on their most challenging and strategically important transactions, projects and disputes. He has experience of all types of corporate work ranging through IPOs, M&A and joint ventures. He has successfully managed cases through the High Court and before the Pensions Regulator, and in ICC and LCIA arbitrations. He has acted as an expert witness. Christopher is ranked in the top three IT lawyers in the World (Euromoney, Best of the Best 2009).

Christopher is a member of the Council of the International Bar Association and has chaired the IBA's Computer and Database Committee since 1996. He is a trustee of the IBA Charitable Trust. He has published and lectured extensively on the subjects of Intellectual Property, Information Governance, Data Protection and Privacy. He is the co-editor of Database Law (Jordans 1998) and is currently co-chairing an IBA project aimed at developing an international convention on the law of Geoinformation.

Christopher holds an MA in Law from Cambridge University and was the Herbert Ruse prize winner in his Law Society final examinations.
