Jacques Bertran de Balanda
Jacques joined the firm's banking and finance practice in Paris in January 2007.
He has over 20 years' experience advising in relation to LBO and acquisition finance transactions (including strategic acquisitions and take over bids) and project finance transactions, both internationally (particularly Africa) and in France, where he has advised in relation to industrial projects, oil and gas projects, concessions and public private partnership financings.
Jacques' area of practice also covers debt restructuring and advice to banks in insolvency situations for both LBO structures and large corporates. He also advises banks in France and Africa on regulatory and operational matters. Jacques works principally for French and UK banks, domestic and multi-lateral development institutions and, to a lesser extent, borrowers and sponsors.
Jacques' experience includes advising:
as lead arranger of the financing of an LBO over a facilities management business (senior, mezzanine and vendor financing)
multi-lateral finance institutions in connection with the multi-sourced financing of a chemical project in North Africa involving an Islamic tranche
Sumitomo Corporation on the local and civil law aspects of a mining project in Madagascar
BNP Paribas and Société Générale as Mandated Lead Arrangers in relation to a €2.7bn loan facility for the acquisition of an Italian dairy product group
Société Générale, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Calyon in relation to the €6.2bn financing of the acquisition by Vinci of 77.01% of the voting rights and share capital of Autoroutes du Sud de la France (ASF), in the context of the privatisation of ASF by the French government *
- the project company ADELAC (a consortium which includes Bouygues and APRR) in relation to the financing of the €900m A41 motorway project (between Annecy and Geneva)*
