Richard King

Richard is head of legal knowledge, and is responsible for the firm’s worldwide legal information and know-how resources and its legal training. 

His role includes strategy and planning, and ensuring the firm’s knowledge and training resources meet the expectations of practitioners, serve its clients’ needs and remain at the leading edge of best practice.  He works closely with the firm’s Professional Support Lawyers, Library & Information (which runs the firm’s central library and manages its online information resources) and the Legal Professional Development Group (which organises the firm’s legal training).  

Richard qualified as a solicitor in 1989 and worked as a professional trainer in law firms for 9 years. More recently, he was a partner and director for Andersen and Ernst & Young in strategic management roles for their associated law practices before re-joining Herbert Smith in 2004.
