One year after having qualified in Hong Kong, Tom Chau joined Herbert Smith's corporate group in 1997. His main working areas include the setting up of PRC joint venture companies, corporate M&A and restructuring, initial public offering, corporate governance and regulatory matters.
Tom has extensive experience in the global offerings of PRC State-owned enterprises and red chip companies. As to M&A practice, he undertook a key role in all acquisition projects of Huaneng Power International since its listing. He is also experienced in advising on the privatisation of overseas - listed PRC companies. Tom has been invited to deliver lectures in Dalian, Shanghai, Xian, Urumuqi, Hangzhou and Hong Kong to various universities, PRC regulatory bodies and government departments on the legal issues relating to the listing in Hong Kong.
