Tony Dymond

Tony has been advising on construction matters since 1994.  He joined the firm in 1998 having previously practised at the Bar in London where he undertook construction, general commercial litigation and arbitration, planning and environment law. Since joining Herbert Smith, Tony spent 7 years based in our Hong Kong office, returning in 2005.

Tony's practice covers construction (non-contentious and contentious), companies litigation, general commercial litigation and international arbitration.  In particular he has extensive experience on large scale construction projects many of which are energy related.  He acts as advocate in the English and Hong Kong Courts and in domestic and international arbitrations.

Tony is a regular speaker at construction conferences and a member of the Society for Construction Law and the Technology & Construction Court Solicitor’s Association (TECSA).

  • consortium of international contractors led by KBR on claims brought by subcontractors on a Nigerian LNG project
  • the Department of Trade and Industry on the terms of appointment of consultants under direct contracts following the termination of the PFI contract  and also on claims arising out of the termination of the PFI contract for the construction of the National Physical Laboratory
  • Sumitomo Chemical on the construction of the US$9.8 billion Rabigh refinery expansion and petrochemical project in Saudi Arabia
  • consortium of energy majors in a dispute with a former Soviet Republic arising under a production sharing agreement
  • Chevron in connection with the EPC contracts for an LNG project in Angola
