We have extensive experience both of working for central and local government and of advising private sector commercial and funder clients on their dealings with the public sector.
Our particular areas of public sector expertise are
- privatisation
- infrastructure/PFI/PPP
- planning, development and regeneration
- dispute resolution and judicial review
We were heavily involved in most of the UK privatisations, including gas, water, electricity and coal, with an unequalled reputation for advising the entity being privatised. The firm has since developed a strong track record for advising on public private partnerships.
Our real estate and planning teams have advised on some of the largest and most high-profile UK regeneration projects, such as the Millennium Dome and Stratford City. In these schemes we represent both private sector partners and local government promoters.
We are a leading firm in administrative law and commercial judicial review and in contentious local government matters. We advise the Government and other public bodies (including the Highways Agency, NHS Trusts and a Passenger Transport Authority) on issues relating to statutory powers in connection with major public private partnership projects. Our advice extends to regularly advising each of applicants, respondents and intervening third parties in judicial reviews and statutory appeals. We also have experience of advising on Human Rights Act matters.
Clients include government departments, local authorities, other public bodies and private sector companies. Key clients of the firm include the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Health, London Underground, NHS Trusts, Stagecoach and Serco.
“the group is best known for its expertise in administrative law, particularly judicial review, as well as its broad knowledge of real estate and PFI.”
