IT dispute resolution

All types of organisations spend large amounts of money on major information technology projects.  These come in many shapes and sizes but typically represent major investments, running over long periods of time, and they often have a high potential for disagreements to arise.  It is not uncommon, despite the best intentions of the parties, for disagreements  in this area to lead to litigation or other forms of dispute procedure.

We have extensive experience of handling the very biggest disputes in this complex field. We are comfortable acting for either customers or suppliers.  We can combine the skills of our lawyers who have technical expertise with our abilities as commercial litigators.  We will apply these skills and abilities in helping our clients to resolve disputes in the most effective way possible.  This may involve any of the following:

  • advice at an early stage to help to identify and remove the cause of the dispute
  • informal negotiation to resolve the dispute quickly
  • mediation and forms of alternative dispute resolution
  • arbitration
  • litigation on technical issues in the Technology and Construction Court
  • litigation on commercial issues in the Commercial Court
  • copyright litigation as part of our intellectual property practice

Clients include BSkyB, Easynet Telecommunications, National Air Traffic Services, WH Smith and easyJet.

In many cases the parties involved in the dispute need to maintain a co- operative relationship and we understand the need to resolve disputes quickly. In those few cases where the dispute does have to be dealt with in proceedings we are expert at assisting our clients to run those proceedings as effectively as possible and reaching a successful outcome.
