  • Time Warner on the European issues of its US$181 billion merger with AOL.  Herbert Smith worked closely with Time Warner’s US lawyers Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP
  • Chevron on its antitrust filings to the European Commission in relation to its US$100 billion merger with Texaco. Herbert Smith worked closely with Chevron's lawyers Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP
  • Carnival Corporation on the European Commission's merger clearance of its £3.5 billion bid for P&O Princess Cruises. Herbert Smith worked closely with Carnival’s US lawyers Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison LLP  
  • Coca-Cola on the abortive global joint venture between Coca-Cola and Procter & Gamble which focused on developing and marketing juice-based beverages and snacks on a global basis
  • Intel Corporation, the world's leading manufacturer of microprocessors, in relation to competition law issues arising in patent infringement proceedings brought against Via Corporation 
  • Fortune Brands, the US consumer brands company that owns Jim Beam, on its £2.8 billion acquisition of a number of major spirits and wines brands from Pernod Ricard. Herbert Smith worked closely with Fortune Brands' lawyers Chadbourne & Parke LLP
  • General Mills on EU competition aspects of its acquisition of the Pillsbury Company from Diageo. Herbert Smith worked closely with General Mills' lawyers Wachtel Lipton Rosen & Katz
  • Hollinger International group on the sale of the Telegraph Group Limited, the publisher of Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph and The Spectator.  Herbert Smith worked closely with Hollinger International's US lawyers, Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison LLP
  • Owens-Illinois’ US$1,400 million acquisition of BSN Glasspack, S.A., the second largest glass container manufacturer in Europe, from Glasspack Participations.  Herbert Smith worked as co-counsel with Simpson Thacher
  • Sabanci Holding in respect of the European Commission's clearance of Sabanci's acquisition of sole control over DuPont Sabanci Polyester Europe ("DuPontSA"), a major producer of polyester products. Herbert Smith worked closely with Sabanci Holding's lawyers Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe LLP
  • Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) on EU and UK merger control issues regarding KKR's proposed bid for Safeway as well as advising on the strategy to adopt with regards to the numerous other proposed bids
  • Transkaryotic Therapies in relation to its $1.6 billion acquisition by Shire Pharmaceuticals. Herbert Smith worked closely with Transkaryotic Therapies' lawyers Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP
  • Information Resources, a data management company, on an EU/competition strategy and submitting a complaint to the Commission, which resulted in a competitor giving undertakings to the Commission
  • Gerber Foods International in relation to a Court of First Instance action concerning the recovery of overpaid duties by Gerber
